RCS OTP is a one-time password delivered through RCS Business Messaging, arriving inside the default Google Messages app on RCS-capable Android devices under the business's Google-verified sender badge- name and logo included. Voice OTP reads the code aloud through an automated outbound call instead of a text message. It isn't meant to compete with WhatsApp, SMS, or RCS OTP for everyday delivery- it costs more per attempt and requires the customer to answer a live call. It earns its place as the fallback tier underneath the other three: triggered automatically when SMS delivery fails or is delayed in poor-coverage areas, for roaming or SMS-disabled users, and for customers who prefer or need audio delivery for accessibility reasons.
Each channel prices OTPs differently, so the cheapest option depends on your volume and channel mix. SMS OTP starts from approximately ₹0.09 per OTP, billed per segment with no conversation model. WhatsApp Business API's Authentication category runs roughly ₹0.14-0.17 per conversation. RCS is priced per message, roughly ₹0.10-0.20 for utility/authentication content.
